One of the Mammoth Lakes. Looks really idyllic, but don't forget to imagine the motor boats (!) on this tiny lake and the noise from the Annual Mammoth Lakes Firefighters Barbeque and Boat Race.

But the region is very charming, so we did a hike around another lake and enjoyed the waterfalls

Oh, and I forgot to mention the very comfortable temperatures here!

Mono Lake, further north. I saw this lake on Google Earth before and was fascinated. The real one was even more impressive. A place to stay.

Modern rock climbing was actually invented in Yosemite and there were thousands of climbers around. This wall was almost empty.

...many waterfalls and many tourists, although it was not as bad as we expected.

We made another hike to this "little" fall

After one-third of the way, you pass a bridge which is the ultimate destination for many of the (american) "hikers". Our usual spectacle :-)

But we kept all our strenght together and continued

And that was one of the awards we got for this
