The Marine Base
Camp LeJeune is the world's most complete amphibious training base and has the largest concentration of US Marines in the world. In times of peace (whenever that is), some 40'000 Marines live and train here, and it was here they practiced for the Normandy invasion. Beside Fort Bragg and the Seymour Johnson Airbase another big training camp. I get more and more why NC claims itself "The most military friendly state", but also suffers the most deaths in the ongoing wars.
The road from Swansboro to Wilmington leads right through the area, but obviously it's hard to see anything.
We already know that Freedom is a camouflage word for army here- signs along the road near Camp LeJeune

There are more exciting signs as this one, e.g. "Tank Xing" or "Artillery fire overhead"

This picture only found its way to the Gallery because of the white panel on the right- you see many of these around the camp, greeting returning soldiers
