The ancient silk road junction
After bringing the silk around the deadly Taklamakan desert through various routes, the merchants rested in Kashgar, selling their goods to the next caravans. From Kashgar, they were brought further West via various routes again.
There still is much to be seen from the old days, although progress is eating up much of it
